What Who is Ollie DeVoid?

Well-intentioned and presumably human, Ollie has developed a talent for the bizarre after a lifetime of surviving it.

They spent their formative years sloshing around in Florida’s humid, surreal wetlands, sailing the rivers and oceans, and visiting family all through Appalachia. Growing up queer in a southern small town meant that a lot of the time, Ollie had to find their own friends, and make their own fun. A child’s imagination left to run rampant, and a landscape with a strange life of its own provided the bedrock for all the different stories they love, and tell, today. People say “write what you know,” and well, Ollie knows weird. If you want to find them, look for people playing Dungeons and Dragons, or watching cult movies… or just go out to a swamp nearby and start yelling. They’ll hear you eventually.

Ollie has held a variety of jobs over the years, from restoring antique boats in the Floridian wetlands to teaching a chamber choir. Right now, they’re working in Parks and Recreation, educating visitors about the unique landscape and amazing native wildlife of the American south.

They’ve dipped their toe into just about every creative field they can find, and if you can’t find them writing, or drawing, or sculpting, or taking photographs… then they might be doing drag.

Ollie (under the name Robin Ransom) has been performing across Central Florida since 2019, appearing in local shows, and hosting, producing, and performing in their own variety revue on Twitch. The Glittery Ghoul, “Heartthrob Rob” is a personification of Ollie’s worst qualities, dressed up in a coat of glitter and their long experience with FX makeup and costume-making.

Ollie DeVoid is a Transgender, Queer, Neurodivergent author, artist, and entertainer. They have a special love for Science Fiction and Folk Horror, and for combining genres in new, exciting ways. They plan to spend their life telling queer stories, and finding joy in the unusual and the unknown.
